Sounds promising.
I was looking at getting the 808, but if the win phone version is coming soon i will hold off, the photos i've seen off this phone are stunning, and the zoom is just incredible!
I didn't think the pictures were a huge improvement in quality for normal conditions, low light might be a different matter though.
This is the only review I've read about it though and camera seems quite bulky:

Assuming Microsoft don't make a pigs breakfast of WP8, then a dual-core Lumia with that sensor could sell well I think. Even for plain bragging rights ("my phone's got a 41 megapixel camera!") it'd have some appeal.
One thing though - a shutter/cover like the old N95 had could be a good idea. Although I'm guessing that it won't come to pass because of the "need" to be as thin as possible.
I'd love to see Nokia come fighting back with real "game changer" of a phone.
If you ignore the hardware and OS sections, just skip to the photographs the 808 blows the 4S out of the water, the 4S by comparison is blocky over-sharpened etc. Its a no contest on image quality. Just a matter of how big the hardware will be.Why do people want dual core phones, its marketing nonsense for 99% of what my phone is used for.
WP unlike Andriod runs really nicely on a single 800mhz snap, it really does. Put in something more and it gets hotter and less battery life.

Having a load of idle silicon is also not necessarily a good idea as it's still drawing some power.
look at what works, not the specs
Erm, Android also runs okay on an 800MHz processor - Galaxy Mini 2 is an 800MHz Qualcomm processor. And yes, if all you're doing is calls, texts and a little light browsing then a low-powered processor is fine.
On the other hand if you want a large screen and/or some gaming ability then I'd need a LOT of convincing that 800MHz will come close to "cutting it". Plus there's no guarantee that WP8 will be as efficient as WP7 apparently is. In fact, I've seen some reports stating that it (WP8) has got a larger footprint to start with. So that doesn't bode well for cpu efficiency.
And as to "marketing nonsense" - may I gently suggest that better marketing might mean a larger market share for Lumia specifically, since it's been held to have "disappointing" sales. Which kind of shows - in my book at least - that technical brilliance doesn't count for a lot. So the efficient (but single core) Lumia's are getting outsold by "lesser" dual-core iPhones and quad-core HTC One X's and Samsung Galaxy SIII's.
That last bit is a shame in my book - WP7 feels good to use, and as a Nokia fan I really wanted them to do better than they have so far.
Always thought WP7 and Nokia was a little too late to the party. WP7 runs well because the hardware is so tightly controlled like iOS. Android however anybody can use and it will near enough work straight away...thus the lack of speed in some apps and circumstances
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
But as mentioned its still a power draw. But my main complaint is its become a marketing feature. RAM speeds / FLASH speeds are important if not more.
Its really not having used them.Blow £110 on a Lumia 710 and say that. Also I hope that they don't make it slower for adding features I don't want, just to allow OS convergence.

Tried the 710 in the local CPW and wasn't that impressed - apart from the fact it looks ugly, there was noticeable lag - not the flicktastic experience that I get from the (better looking) 800. Not a bad idea to get the 710 to try WP7 - unfortunately just having spent £400+ on a Galaxy SIII if I then spent another £100+ I'm pretty sure I'd be presented with a set of divorce papers!
I wasn't impressed that much with the 710 either...and my mate has an 800 and it's pretty good..but the flash on the camera is blinding and then you look like a ghost! lol

Negligible on its own.
When factoring in the MSM8255 (L800) is 45nm, the Exynos 4412 (SIII) is 32nm, Tegra 3 T30 (Optimus 4x) is 40nm It is quite possible that the older, single core SoCs are using more power idling that the modern quads do.
At least WM is slowly catching up with features I guess, shame it hid behind the façade of being more efficient when it was actually just doing less for so long. I think WM users will enjoy proper multitasking, it can be pretty useful.
