I hope so, that was an annoying inconsistency. I also hope they make google talk a share target. Oh, and home screen rotation for phones wouldn't hurt either.
Yeah, CM10 supports it, but I'd rather stick with vanilla JB as long as my Galaxy Nexus is being updated by Google.
I hope so...the current gmail app is alright but still not good.
You can download the APK from the android police site, seems to work well for quite a few people.
I dont use Gmail i use the mail apps that come with phone so i can have all my e-mails in the same client.
I think some real focus needs to be done with this in android instead of a propriatory Gmail app. Yes they can make the Gmail part of it super-duper awesome but i got annoyed with having separate apps for different online e-mail addresses AND exchange.
A proper unified mail client provided by Google would be good. It would be one less difference between manufacturers. HTC do a good job of their client, but the Samsung one on my works Ace is pretty terrible!
I installed the generic Google mail client on my Desire at one point so I could get work email on my phone instead of through webmail. It was really nice, but one unified app would be better.
There is one on the Nexus 7 aswell, i think the HTC one is just the stock android one which is exactly the same and samsung are the odd ones out who change it? I dunno im just guessing but the one im using is pretty good overall, it just frustrates me that for google i have to use imap.
The HTC one is black text on white for the message listing. The stock Android one is white text on black (at least it was the version I used). Same goes for the HTC and generic Android contacts app.
The samsung one is with on black too, just really bad.
Then you have the Orange one on their handsets and I'm sure there are a multitude of other mail apps in use out there. Would be good if Google could wind that in and make everyone use the same app.
