..., along with multi-user support on tablets...
This worries me. Does this mean we won't see muti-user support on Android phones at all this version?

multiuser on phones does not make much sense as it usually one number one phone one person where as tablets can be used by many people. though there is no reason it could not be activated on phones as it's all the same codebase and google does not want to split up the codebase now it's unified.

Hmm, I wonder whether Samsung will be tempted to price the "Nexus 10" under the cost of the iPad3 rather than trying to price match it. Be good for us consumers to be able to get a "better" tablet that's also cheaper.

Re: News - Google to announce 1600p tablet and LG smartphone on the 29th?

If they can get the price right I will be ordering one. I wanted them to match the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" price ($369) but due to the display rumour I see it more matched to that of the Microsoft Surface £399 ($499) and iPad.
I'm hoping that they make the money through the play store so they sell this as low as possible and force a change in the market. I'd be over the moon if it is £300

I will also be tempted if the pricing is right, and if it's light in weight.

I would welcome this feature on my phone. My nephews are forever asking to play on my phone and knowing that they're not going to be getting into my work email or downloading lots of expensive apps would be fantastic

Re: News - Google to announce 1600p tablet and LG smartphone on the 29th?

Essentially this is the Nexus 7 with a larger screen. If the 32Gb version of the Nexus 7 can be bought soon for £199, is the screen upgrade really going to cost double?
I really think google have an opportunity to eat up the market, and hopefully the start of Apple's fall from grace with the lemming cult followers.

Might sell off my One X for the phone. Fed up with HTCs slow update procedure and would much prefer to get them as they come a' la nexus devices

"compete with new iOS 6 panorama features"
Come on guys, that's just lazy or biased reporting. That kind of thing significantly predates iOS6 either in app form or in other phones. How old is Photosynth?

I think they will be a bit cheaper. I think Google have a say in the pricing strategy on devices that hold the Nexus brand. This will be a big opportunity for Samsung to steal a bigger chunk of market share from Apple and the ipad.

Unless I'm unaware of something extra special about the iOS panorama mode then the stock Android camera is already competing as it's had panorama mode for ages now.

Re: News - Google to announce 1600p tablet and LG smartphone on the 29th?

November is going to be a great time for buying tablets - now is the time to start checking Currys website daily for those £XX.97 bargains on older tablets.

It's already happening if you keep a close eye on hotUKdeals, and from the looks of things the discounts will start ramping up before long Good time to get something that can tide us over until Surface either comes down to a reasonable price, or alternatively proves itself to have true advantages over the Transformer series!

Similar here and if it would at least have an option to create a guest account that would be neat. I wouldn't mind using two user profiles for myself either, one for when I'm at work and the other with settings I'd use when not working (email, IM,... accounts, widgets and all other customizations of the device). Phones being rather small devices also means when you want to show something on it to someone else that mostly means giving them the phone in their hands, and I'd feel a lot better if I knew they can not mess with my profile or see contents I wouldn't want them to, even by mistake. Anyway, there's a lot of reasons why that would be a welcome feature on phones as well, and not just tablets.

Given that Samsung in the US seem to be pushing the "our S3 is better than the iPhone AND cheaper" line, I guess that the same logic could very well be applied to the latest tablets. Especially as Google are also pushing the same "cheaper than Apple" line. Here's hoping you're right and they do price "competitively" rather than "premium".

You do know that Asus have been promising a Win8RT version of the Transformer Prime? In which case I guess the only advantage the Surface would have is price (because the Transformers aren't "cheap" at the moment), whereas the Asus device would have longer battery life (because it's got two batteries), better keyboard, more ports.

Hmm, you think with the amount of information that Google has on everyone that they'd know exactly what price point to launch at to be regarded as "affordable".
