Features - Has Windows Phone 8 tickled your fancy?

It's take two for Windows Phone, but have the latest handsets done enough to convince you?

Quite like some of the handsets but I'm too used to doing whatever I like with Android, and now that I'm definitely not bothering with Windows 8 on the desktop I can't see myself ever buying one.

Yes, really like my current phone (HTC Trophy 7 running 7.5 or whatever), and my next upgrade will definitely be to a W8 phone. When it will be, I've no idea though

I'm tempted by the 8X or the Lumia 820. Luckily I'm due an upgrade in December so might be able to bag a deal on one if the prices drop a little for Christmas.

The only thing putting me off one is that I've had an android phone for the last two years and now have an android tablet, so getting a WP8 phone would mean paying for certain apps again.

Same as George, really impressed with my Samsung Omnia 7, due an upgrade in a few months and will definitely be going W8 phone. Hopefully will get one of the Nokia's though tbh another Samsung will be fine as well.

Re: Features - Has Windows Phone 8 tickled your fancy?

I do look forward to getting my Lumia 920 and seeing how that goes for the next 12 months seeing as I can see Microsoft releasing their own smartphone device to go on par with their surface range. I mean it seems like Microsoft have forgotten about the old 7.0 and 7.5 windows phones as my HTC Mozart 7 is no longer really up to scratch with the windows market place. But then again are the current windows phones up to scratch with apps and stuff as one thing I know is that with the Windows platform it seems that it gets forgotten in terms of apps. Would have preferred just one app store instead of 2.

I think Windows Phone 8 devices are compatible with all the apps previously available for Windows Phone 7 and 7.5. Given that the marketplace is now 120,000 apps, I hope with WP8, developers will start taking the platform more seriously. Just a shame the new WP8 apps won't work on WP7 devices.

I also have a Windows Phone 7.5 handset and have been very happy with it. Am looking forward to getting a Windows Phone 8 when my contract expires!

If Nokia hadn't made the Lumia 920 exclusive to EE I would have been a future WP8 user. But they stuffed that up good and proper so now I don't know what I'm I buying!!

Yep, Windows 8 for me. Got fed up on android on my Sony S and while I have an Iphone 4s for work, i couldn't have one for personal stuff.

Re: Features - Has Windows Phone 8 tickled your fancy?

Due an upgrade in December from my iphone4 and will be getting a Windows phone as an Xmas prezzie to myself. Should allow time for the phones to land in the various high street outlets to have a look at them before deciding which one. Leaning towards the Lumia 920 as it seems it can be used as a wifi hub for up to 5 devices. Meaning that I could get rid of my Ipad sim card and save a few quid there.

Re: Features - Has Windows Phone 8 tickled your fancy?

Im getting a 920 in the next couple of months, fell in love with it when it was first announced, i think it is the best looking phone in the world, and I loved the lumia 800/900 but after I found out they would not be updated i was not interested and they lacked a lot of standard features for high end phones such as high resolution screen, dual core CPU, 1GB RAM etc

Re: Features - Has Windows Phone 8 tickled your fancy?

Hmph. So I'm kinda cross about the situation - I'm on WP7, and not due for an upgrade until 2014. But since WP7's app availability is already drying up, I need to consider paying out of pocket for a replacement, and recycling the 800.

Do I want to reward Microsoft for their inexcusable behaviour in making WP7 devices not upgradeable to WP8 - even flagship devices like the Lumia 900? Not really. So how about iOS? Still crazy expensive, and I still have less than 0 interest in iTunes. Which leaves Android. But holy ****balls is Android horrible as an OS.

WP7 is *still* the nicest current mobile OS, which makes replacing it all the more infuriating - I can support the dick move that is WP8, or move to something worse. Hooray.

Re: Features - Has Windows Phone 8 tickled your fancy?

I have an iPhone 4S, it's my 3rd iPhone since the first came out.
It's also my last iPhone or Apple product.
I'm getting Surface pro when it comes out in, hopefully, January and a Windows 8 phone as soon as I can get out of my current contract.
