At the moment, I'd rather they got 1080p broadcasting sorted, rather than the 1080i we currently get...

Still - gotta admit, 2160p50 at only twice the bitrate of 1080i50/1080p25 is pretty impressive.
That's 8 times as much picture for only twice the bandwidth.
Isn't it about time we standardised globally on 60p?
Oh, and UK HD broadcasts on freeview run at 8-10Mb, so this is 4x times that...
Holy crap never expected to live to the time we would enjoy such a glorious quality.
Personally, I'm not convinced that I see the point for TV broadcasts - I'm not sure that 1080p is really missing much detail in terms of films, certainly not on the typical-sized screens that the average consumer has.
PC screens... now that would be interesting.
Ridiculous - by the time the first 8k broadcast/film is available, the majority of, say, Sky's channels will still be low bit rate SD.
