Okies. IT now looks like I need to hold out for the S4 micro! A 4.3" screen really isn't mini at all, it is (as you say) a cut down/budget version of the S4, not spec-reduced to meet smaller size version.
So was the S3 Mini really though...it's not the size they are cutting but the specs
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
It will have an 8mp camera, I'd bet money on that. On reflection it'll be slightly more powerful, slightly lighter, slightly higher res version of the standard S2. My S2 contract expires next month and the regular S4 is going to be too expensive and too big for my liking.
This would have been a contender but i doubt I'd see any worth while upgrade from my S2, expect I'll just continue with my S2 (especially as it's just been warranty replaced because of a failed software update) and wait until the next generation...probably looking at Nokia by that time.
Dual-SIM is interesting though, if it means that I don't need to swap out the ever smaller SIM cards when going to another country. Would love to see it on it's larger siblings. Throw that in, and it would be hard for me to justify jumping ship unless another manufacturer comes with *at least* removable battery and MicroSD *and* provide a perk to offset the dual-SIM advantage.
If it has *all* the same software features and that dual-core is an enhanced A9 or better then it'll be a decent buy, the smaller chassis is probably too much for an Octa or Snapdragon 600 so it's a fair enough trade off to make something smaller and cheaper.
If it's a A7 CPU or lacks the headline software features then IMHO Samsung are making a mistake calling it an S4, it should have a different name to avoid consumer confusion and damage to the S4 brand. Not everyone appreciates the distinctions and expects the full S4 they heard about from a mate once they see those 2 chars, the mini bit is ignored.
Is it just me or does the S4 Mini just look like an S3 with new software?
I like the S3 Mini because of the fact it is small..
4.3" - perfect
qHD - could do with being 720p. I can see the difference at that size.
It'll be interesting to see what real world battery life is like on it as well.

Dual-SIM will be for Korean and Asian markets not UK, though I'm sure you could get one if you wanted. I'm sure the S2 and S3 were available in dual-SIM models in those countries too

It's like they're not even trying! I could see this being a good phone to go to if you're on the S2 but not coming from an S3 like myself. My current contract isn't up for another year, maybe the S5 will be more exciting.
