If they are including the keyboard, that isn't a bad price. When you consider what £800 gets you in high end ultrabook, ssd and screen quality.

Main issue for me is the lack of RAM, no point having a 'pro' laptop with only 4gb of RAM for my line of use.

Coming soon, and being reduced to clear stock soon after.

I think the problem they're going to have is one of image. "£800! I can get an Ipad for £450 or whatever." The guy in PC World sees the same type of device on offer, unfortunately.

I'm just not convinced by the added functionality (by which I am physical form factor). It's not as functional as a laptop, it's a high end tablet with aspirations above it's actual ability.

If Haswell wasn't right around the corner, I'd be jumping on this. As it is, I'll be waiting for the next round of windows slates/tablets with lower power consumptions and hopefully higher resolution screens.

Needs to be £600 with keyboard, £500 without. Then it might stand a chance against ipads / big Androids.

Yeah, they'll sell some to businesses, but it won't do well for home users at this price IMO.

It's cheaper than my Samsung Activ Pro 700T by a considerable amount.

Personally it's a no buy (haswell is a good reason to wait) but I'll pick up a couple for work as we're developing for it now.

I dunno, I know a couple of people who 'dock' it with big monitors and keyboard + mouse for development work. It's plenty fast for most peoples workflow, just lacks RAM.

I'd need a keyboard included at that price, also, 128GB is a must once you consider what you'll be left with. Frankly I'm disappointed that the options aren't 128GB or 256GB.

If it had a decent GPU I'd be tempted, even if it was some hybrid solution. I just couldn't justify that much though for such little GPU grunt.

Re: News - Surface Pro 64GB to be priced at £719 in the UK

Looking at the market right now, I'd say my top two contenders are the Sony Duo or the ASUS Taichi, undeniably, the Taichi is the better idea, no flimsy flip system, a full notebook experience, on the other-hand the Duo is just somehow magic!

But as others have said, Haswell is around the corner, and it's going to offer much better standby behaviour and a half-decent integrated graphics core. I'm not going to look to upgrade from my Acer Timeline until Haswell is in these products.

Well given what's in the next iteration of Intel's GPU that could happen in the V2 product

Re: News - Surface Pro 64GB to be priced at £719 in the UK

This will be another horrible Microsoft flop. Look at the Surface RT, getting absolutely panned and they've had to slash the price. At £400 it's still overpriced IMO. This makes the exact same mistake, I would be interested in on of these because I like the functionality and productivity of full fat Windows and they look really well built and are more aesthetically pleasing than any other tablets I've seen. However, they are just way overpriced...

Re: News - Surface Pro 64GB to be priced at £719 in the UK

Surface pro is a pure compromise. Neither is perfect as a portable device (too heavy and power hungry) and is severely impaired as a productivity device (the screen size is too small and the screen resolution too high); it may have some appeal for those who would like the convenience of an ipad and the the power of an ultrabook without the need to purchase both. But the price is still too steep. 600 pounds with keyboard and perhaps a less powerful processor is a far more tempting proposition.

Re: News - Surface Pro 64GB to be priced at £719 in the UK

For most people over powered (i3 + HD4000 graphics is fine)
    Over priced
    Over heavy
    Too little storage
    Too little RAM
Screen size is too small for easy working but probably looks excellent playing movies.

I am sure there is a point to surface pro - just not sure what it is

Trying to shift remaining stock before Haswell.
