I think I would hold off until the Jaguar/Temash and next generation Atom Windows 8 tablets are launched.

This is certainly a good start, 2GB RAM, 1280x768 screen, good battery, but I think I'll hold off until version 2, with a newer processor (hopefully more efficient) 3GB RAM, and maybe a 1600x900 screen, oh and a Intel 4000 GPU, so I can play some of my steam games on the go

2GB RAM? Really? 2GB of RAM? I mean just go to maps.google.co.uk and news.bbc.co.uk look at chrome/firefox/ie private bytes useage and tell me 2GB of RAM is enough for anyone today. Then put in a youtube and a social notwork site.

I guess price is the question here, if this is <£300 it might be OK. Bundling Office with it I don't think will help matters, especially since home and student is only £60 per year when rented (with skype credit and more skydrive space to boot). Can't see why people would want to have to pay for it on a device like this. I'm assuming its a home version but still, it strikes me as odd.

Re: News - Acer Iconia W3 8.1-inch Windows tablet officially confirmed

My chrome window currently has the google homepage and faceache open and is burning > 300MB. Firefox is worse, in my experience. IE with the BBC homepage and this Hexus window is burning 300MB of its own. When did browsers get so ridiculously memory hungry? Three browser windows can burn > 1GB of RAM - absolutely ridiculous...

My X121e with an E450 used to have no issues as a laptop but recently, it seems to struggle with how demanding browsers are. I have tried a couple and its seems to be universal
Depending on the actual content seems to make the difference as to which one is the most efficient but either browsers have become more bloated or content has become much more rich over the past year or so.

Or maybe i just need to give it a 'spring clean'

Oooh now I'm getting excited about the end of the year, I'd love something like this with 4GB RAM and one of the next-gen Atoms, finally the prospect of a tablet which is actually useful and not either annoyingly slow, annoyingly heavy, annoyingly large... etc!
