Looking at the EE map on coverage, where I live the coverage seems to cover all of the hills surrounding, BUT NOT ACTUALLY THE VILLAGE I LIVE IN OR THE NEIGHBOURING TOWN.
More stupid, pointless and expensive packages from EE.
I get 4mb - 13Mb speeds on my Note 2 on 3, why would anyone need any more speed than that. Perfectly fast enough for HD video, music, radio etc etc
SUPERFAST INTERNET
For super quick email, browsing and downloading when you are out and about. To use 4G, you'll need a 4G-ready phone and a 4GEE plan.
Available only on 4GEE plans.
NOT YET
town of 100K+ (orange is crap here as well)
Meh. People only buy into this 4G hype because they don't realise their slow connection is because of poor coverage on 3G.
Balls!
Does that matter though?
Put aside all the moaning about prices and how "useless" it is - the simple fact is that for a large number of people, they will get consistently faster speeds with an LTE connection than a 3G connection. It's got a lot to do with coverage (and how you can get better speeds with poorer coverage with LTE, but for me, I love it..consistently fast internet connectivity on my phone.
I don't even have to think about whether I am on wifi or not anymore, it just works...at least around Manchester and on most of the M6.
The download caps are not even as big of a problem as people think - as long as you are not sitting there downloading constantly on your phone, or using it to stream content 24/7. For "normal" use (the same as most people use 3G for) most typical users will still struggle to go over 1gb/month. My typical use is streaming from iTunes match, downloading a few apps, browsing the web, iMessages and the occasional hour or so of Sky Go.
It is still too expensive though - the business plan I am on gives you 4gb + unlimited calls/texts for £25+vat a month - we need to get down to that sort of level at consumer prices before it will really take off..and I don't see that happening for another 12 months or so.
Well, with the usual proviso that other people's mileage (and needs, criteria, etc) may vary, EE want HOW MUCH for 500MB, SIM-only???
Yes, I know you get calls, texts, etc, but nonetheless, for me, hell will freeze over and demons will be handing out fairy cakes to primary school kids first. Granted, I'm not exactly their target market, and have no real interest in carrying a data-enabled mobile phone around with me anyway, but even so, £23 for 500MB? Bother that for a game of soldiers, as the old saying more-or-less went.
It's ridiculous. I know that's not adding much to the discussion, but the prices are extortionate and the coverage is dire. Also you'd have to be a pretty special kind of power user to actually need 4G speeds, even streaming video to an HD smartphone...
Quite frankly the cost of data and the amount they supply is a joke - especially as one of their main selling points was watching movies - sure watch one, and then have no more for the rest of the month.
Would rather go with 3 and get unlimited data at a slightly slower speed.
