This is so unnecessary. Phones need better lenses not more megapixels. 12MP is good enough for any phone shots but the lenses on phones just ruin it all. I don't understand why more work is not done on this?
I think your missing the point.
Have a look at the nokia 808 http://www.dpreview.com/articles/808...a-808-pureview
It has great optics, I mean Ziess is not just a brand name, they make great bits of glass too. But mostly the sensor is used for oversampling, this enables brilliant low light, but also ability to zoom, so in some circumstances it functions like a zoom lens.
It's a stonking bit of kit, if its as good as an 808, has enough battery, I'm buying one....

I still think it's all about the lens..
It can be 100MP, but if it's got a tiny lens, it's no point :/
My 'only' 10mp DSLR will take better pictures.

Have a look at this:

Sensor size is not everything.
Obviously thou this isn't going to compete with a £1k DSLR set-up.

Maybe I still don't join the 2, the camera on many Nokia 520 is good for the quick picture and i am not paying through the nose for a phone which can take pictures around the same level as a £60 point and clicker.
Apparently, it's going to be called the 909 now...

Give it a month, it'll just be a symbol.
