This is so unnecessary. Phones need better lenses not more megapixels. 12MP is good enough for any phone shots but the lenses on phones just ruin it all. I don't understand why more work is not done on this?

Really depends.
If your using a lovely portrait lens (say 80mm ish) which is very fast (f/2.2 say) you will miss the bokeh.
If you want the best damned camera you'll ever find on a phone, then this is what this year will offer us!

Obviously thou this isn't going to compete with a £1k DSLR set-up.

Maybe I still don't join the 2, the camera on many Nokia 520 is good for the quick picture and i am not paying through the nose for a phone which can take pictures around the same level as a £60 point and clicker.
