Just as long as they're not more infernal shopping channels...

BBC's new HD channels are BBC News 24, BBC Three, BBC 4, CBBC and CBeebies. A couple of these share channels at different times of the day.
I also expect the additional bandwidth could be used for MPEG-4 SD channels, allowing even advertising channels and music channels (that don't seem to play music ever).
We don't need more channels, just better content on the existing ones.
Happy days, will we ever get 5 HD and film4 HD.
and freesat?
Not really when the BBC killed it's HD channel and replaced it with BBC2 HD they took most of the "quality" items from BBC3 & 4 and put them on BBC2 HD.
I certainly think that BBC News 24 in HD is a bit of overkill as a lot of the items will be not be anywhere near SD quality nevermind HD and the BBC should have sacrificed that to maintain their new interactive HD channel (303).
Any one know how this will affect Freesat ??? I've a Humax foxsat HDR & if reading correctly I should be covered - DVB-S2 and DVB-S compatible ???
