If there's a "flood" of folks (was tempted to say "sheep", but decided against it) wanting to trade in last years Nexus 7 for "this years" model, does that also mean that there's going to be a pile of Nexus 7's available at very cheap prices? If so, then put me down for one, as I could do with a testbed to check out Ubuntu Tablet Edition, and I'm too much of a skin flint to pay the price for a new Nexus 7 for that purpose.

However the new Nexus 7 doesn't look like it has won many converts from Apple's iOS tablets as iPad trade-ins showed "no appreciable increase" to coincide with the 2013 Nexus 7 launch.

Erm, given the size of the Nexus 7, wouldn't the natural shift be from iPad Mini to it, rather than from the full size iPad?

Although I'm going to give Apple some props - even the in-supermarket displays for the iPads look good, the ones for the Nexus (and other Android) devices tend to be "here's a shelf with something on it" - not exactly appealing.

The frustrating thing is how easily the screens on the original Nexus 7 broke, and that it costs nearly the full price of the unit to replace said screen. Mine lasted exactly 1 month and has been sitting around for about 5 months since I don't want to basically buy a new one to have it fixed.

while the device is neat, i think the strong sales was purely for netflix.
