...and it still won't be big enough

it is made for next gen consoles I know
We will have 1tb flash drives by then
Long term archival? Really? The average lifespan of an optical disk is supposedly 7 years, best case 15 and worst case 2. Compare that with a hard drive or tape storage where assuming you turn them off and put them in a dust free container they'll last to the end of time (or thereabouts). Even ssds beat optical disks with a lifespan of 10-20 years when no power is supplied. How's about you just bring back microdrives which were tiny hdds as big as a CF card, or maybe a little bigger will do if they need more capacity.
As other, fail to see why the interest or investment in this. Even 50GB bluray recordable discs are expensive, hard drives are still so cheap this makes no sense. Even a 2.5" drive makes more sense.
are blu ray discs capable of storing info for full films for 4k displays? if so then i cant see a use.
Gonna be a while before 4k displays are really taking off but I could see these being used for films even more so if the next consoles pick this format. Can't see much use for archiving especially very long term.
What good will this make when Blu-ray's still failing to make a impact.....
