    Oh dear.

Would have been so much better with a decent resolution scan. And print.

I'm just going by the image quality of the cat, but if that's what it can do, then it's about as much use as my first digital camera, which was great as a toy and for impressing people that had never seen one (which was almost everyone) but for actually printing useable images over about 1" square was about as functional and practical as a chocolate teapot.

If that really is representative of the quality of either scanner or printer technology, then it'll be a while before I'd buy one. I wouldn't give £50 for that .... and I'd think hard even at £5.

People often make this mistake when comparing things, failing to remember that at least you could eat a chocolate teapot.

I've seen some really amazing uses of the Kinect to do a better job than this does, including texture etc.

Maybe I'm being harsh, I do love the way all this tech is going, 3D is my bread and butter so I'm looking forward to getting printer, just to add to the house clutter..

Actually, the cat was probably a poor idea. Fur is not easy to model anywhere - maybe they should have left some RPG figure painters at it first or modelled a sphinx.

A bit early but I can see that in a few years time 3D copyright will keep a few lawyers in gainful employment.

Looking closely, I would say that was a different gnome they printed!

It looks like a great toy to get, though still worthless if you ask me for home use as there is no metal support or plastics of equal strength. Though it would be great for creating mobile phone covers, if it could just do multi colour printing or painting.

    HI HO!!!!!

Looks a bit rubbish at this stage, but I wouldn't jump in yet anyway, few year maybe as materials improve.
