It's not just data loss but a loss of confidence in the device; the concern that when you start using it again it'll be flaky and liable to fall over again at any moment. I'm just reinstalling Windows after a power-down glitch made my SSD randomise the sectors in the registry (as well as all other recently written files). I agree that more manufacturers need to address this issue and, Samsung, I hope you're reading this as you're not my favourite bunny at the moment.
Sounds similar to battery backed RAID array cards, designed to provide a safe buffer zone if the main PC power is terminated. I'd certainly be happier if this technology was more widespread.

Sounds like they've re-invented the supercaps used in enterprise Sandforce drives, allowing RAM-cached writes to be committed after power loss.
Had this issue while writing my dissertation. I've lost like a chapter... I would love to see this solution widely available!
The implementation is obvious, so really the question is whether the cost of the implementation is worth it to you. On a laptop, I'm much less likely to suffer sudden power loss, so I guess zero point in this for me.
