I'm tempted by the new pro even though it is still on the expensive side! Was hoping they would release the power cover at the same time!
Or it's a case of waiting for the Asus Transformer Book Trio.

Re: Features - QOTW: Will you be buying the second-gen Microsoft Surface?

If I could afford it I might but I can't afford it so I'll stick to a laptop for my needs. I am considering an extra life battery for my laptop though because so far I've found little point in taking my laptop out of my rented room at uni because it doesn't last long enough. There are computers at uni so I may as well use them.

Re: Features - QOTW: Will you be buying the second-gen Microsoft Surface?

I'm hoping they release some decent student\teacher pricing so I can pick up a Surface 2.

Currently use a Dell Venue Pro running Windows Phone 7.8 and I have only have 9 additional apps (Not including games) installed. A few of those are Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn apps that just expand on already present features.

I've had a play with an old Surface RT with Touch Cover and I like them, and all the main apps I'd need are either pre-installed or available on the Windows Store.

Saying all of this, if they have some heavy discounts on the Surface Pro 2, then I might even go for one of those, but I highly doubt my wallet or wife will agree!

    Already pre-ordered.

But then again, you guys knew that already, my RT is my favourite tablet out of the bunch I've got (Nexus 7, Nexus 10, iPad 2, some generic chinese stuff) hell the touch cover is amazing.... I can type on it!

I'd have snapped up the RT if it supported a proper stylus like the pro does.

But for now I'm hanging on to my 4 year old Dell Latitude XT2 because can't afford the pro

Having the possession of the first gen RT, it's genuinely brilliant! ...except it has absolutely zero apps and Internet Explorer is still one of the worst major browsers out there. (Here's hoping to joint Windows Stores)

Nonetheless, if I had the money, the Pro 2 would definitely be grabbed up.

I'm probably going to get the Pro2 for myself and pick up a cheap SurfaceRT for my parents.

Nope. Too expensive. I'd rather buy an android tablet or a laptop.

No way in hell. I haven't forgiven MS for Win8 and there's not the remotest chance I'll buy either these or a Win phone. I haven't even bothered to look at either price or spec, because it makes no difference.

Re: Features - QOTW: Will you be buying the second-gen Microsoft Surface?

We have a couple of android tablets in the household and are generally impressed with them in relation to price and availability of apps. The RT model is a no-no for me with it's lack of apps. I am interested in the Pro however, but I can't justify the expense.

If the price comes down a wee bit on the Surface 2 then I will definitely get one...

Re: Features - QOTW: Will you be buying the second-gen Microsoft Surface?

    Probably not.
It is expensive (Pro). The bezel is still to large for my taste. Having handled the Surface 1 is was not sold on the form factor, the sloping sides felt wrong to me.
Ideally for me it would be iPad mini size/form factor though thicker would be acceptable if it included a larger battery and a full size usb3 port. Also an SD card slot, 1920 x 1200 resolution, Haswell, up to 256GB and i would like the option of a sim card.
Priced competively against the iPad mini i would take a punt.

I convinced my sister to get one for uni instead of an ipad. hopefully the lack of apps will help her study

I'd love a Pro 2, but dont need it.... well, not really.

Interesting that the RT is still around just cheaper now - they've still got plenty of stock i guess?!
