Duh. Isn't it obvious? 1GB for the game and 49GB for the DRM.

    Because it's about bloody time!

We have had to put up with crummy textures and low quality sound for a while now due to consoles, now they actually have decent amounts of RAM, we finally get non-overly-compressed-to-hell files.

Personally I think COD is the biggest rip-off out there

Why do games keep getting bigger in size. Crysis was 8GB ? and no game has matched up to that level of awesomeness yet. And, only needed 2GB RAM.

50gb is insane! COD games have been nothing but the same crap for the last 5 years and each game holds my attention for 10 minutes max. I have quite a few terabytes to play with and even at that 50gb is too much.

Your timing of that comment is great - I finally got around to starting up Sleeping Dogs yesterday (purchased more than a year ago). And that game offered me the option of hires textures. "Coo" I thought "it'll just be downloading a couple of data files" ... bit shocked to see that I needed more than 4GB of new data for that "update". Although - got to admit - that game looks sweet now.

So 50GB for CoD:Ghosts is probably on the highest end of "acceptable" - that said, I hope to hell that BF4 isn't also that size otherwise I'm going to have to do some serious app pruning - only got 36GB left on the partition at the moment, and my new drive will only add another 50GB.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

Re: News - Activision Blizzard complete multibillion buyback from Vivendi

“With the completion of this transaction we open a new chapter in the history of Activision Blizzard,” Mr. Kotick said in a statement. “We expect immediate shareholder benefits in the form of earnings-per-share accretion and strategic and operational independence. Our audiences and our incredibly talented employees around the world will benefit from a focused commitment to the creation of great games. Our shareholders and debt holders will have the benefit of an energized, invested, deeply committed management team focused on generating long-term, superior returns and effectively managing our capital structure.”

And within this statement is reason Acti/Blizz no longer make games of any creative or artistic merit.

Bf3 which is miles better looking is only around 20gb so I think they have either got the file size wrong or have really badly optimised files.

50GB does seem a tad ott, but will be interesting to see what exactly they fill it with.
