Wow, that looks very nice. At first I was going to say whose PC can actually run new games at 240fps but looks like you only need 120 (unless I'm missing something here). Which is still rather large but no visible motion blur sounds blissful.
ARGH and I just bought an asus 27" 144Hz monitor! Still, would be good to hear how 120Hz/lightboost compares with this 120Hz2 turbo mode. The display itself sounds nice, it takes a bit of getting used to the washed out colours of 120Hz/lightboost!
Very nice, just need to invest in a couple of R290X's to power it along ! I guess the price will be rather high despite only being a 1080 screen though.
Sadly it's not actually 240 Hz.
It's only capable of receiving input signals of 120 Hz, the monitor receives the frame then either doubles it or inserts black frames in-between giving you '240 Hz'. This technology does make it appear slightly smoother but does still have slight motion blur and overdrive trailing.
It is Eizo though so the picture quality is very good, especially once calibrated.
120Hz addressable with frame-doubling (actually just a mix of overdrive and lightboost and some marketing guy deciding that it meant double the framerate)? Yeah, this is a consumer version of Eizo's commercial display for satellite imagery viewing. Now normally I'd jump on this is a 120hz non-TN panel, but with G-sync on the horizon I guess I'll hold off until this (or another *VA or IPS panel) is available.
Same here - although the price of 7970's is falling to the point where a Crossfire setup is looking do-able. Problem then though is that my mobo is playing up and my ole PhenomII couldn't hope to keep a double 7970 setup fed.
My thoughts too. That and 'what a shame they had to go ruin it by slapping on a daft soundbar'.
I do like the idea of 120hz but the majority seem to be a combination of just 1080p (usually on a screen far too large for 1080p pixel density wise) and a crappy panel.
This looks interesting although why is it that laptop displays seem to get all the resolution love (and even phone displays!) but desktop displays are still stuck in the dark ages resolutionwise
I remember like 10 or 15 years ago or so, my brother took me to an arcade (yeah, a real, actual, video game arcade). There were lots of shooters, sports games, platformers, dozens of full 3D games... but the one that stood out the most was this soccer game. It was beautiful. Me and my brother couldn't figure out what it was about the game that was so eye-catching.
It wasn't the textures... the models were pretty standard low-poly count... there wasn't any advanced lighting or SSAO or anything like that....
it was the refresh rate. This soccer game was playing at 120fps on a 120hz monitor. It looked absolutely incredible.
