I agree, the 3-way SLI is completely pointless.

Re: News - MSI launches its MSI Z87I Gaming AC and GTX 760 Gaming ITX

I don't think the 3-way SLI on this 760 is pointless. The card itself is a potent ITX option in its own right, but stuffing a pair (or a trio if you went with W/C on them) in to a very shallow mATX chassis is certainly going to raise a bit of interest. In all honesty, it's probably just MSI's way of saying, "Look, we preserved the entire feature set on this card!".

Not only do I like the look and sound of the very competently-specced products, but matching sets like this add a touch of class to proceedings. Here's hoping that ASUS, Gigabyte et al start churning out matching motherboard/GPU combos with this much style. It'd certainly be an incentive to make repeat purchases from the same company.

I'd get the motherboard but if i had the dosh i'd go for a 280X or a 780TI seeing as most of the mini ITX cases i like support full length GPU's.

This is good - I think minituriation of gaming PCs is definitely the way forward - my next new build will for sure be ITX or mATX so glad to see smaller parts out to build it with

Why? Its more expensive, fewer features and more difficult to upgrade. I bought a good ATX(and BTX as it goes) full tower in 2004, cost me £150, but I've used it ever since, 13 drive bays, 2*120mm watercooling, 2 psus if I want them. As far as triple SLI goes - good luck finding a big enough psu in an actually miniitx case, if you're going to use a full size case anyway you may as well use full size parts.

Agree - worse time I had with builds was with a Pentium4-based Shuttle. Trying to find a suitable AGP card that would fit in a very slim slot was a real bitch. And doing any maintenance was equally "fun". Much prefer my HAF932.

But w1ntergr33n's got a point in that I - like him/her - think that we're going to see more and more focus on these "bookcase" units. Personally though, I'd prefer something about the size of an olde-style video recorder that was very, very quiet most of the time - ideal for an under-the-tv installation.

It's not as pointless when you want to keep good airflow in micro ATX cases.
