Looks pretty much the same as the windows one once the settings were matched? Doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table using that metro last light as an example.

At the risk of remaining stuck in 2011, I nonetheless remain flabbergasted that Linux has more than a Quake 3 clone and Tux racer available... and not just that games are available, but that Linux is the new "go to" platform.
    Astounding.

"Good" as in "not worse", definitely. But it looks to be a bit early to say. I'm sure with Valve in control that it time they'll win advantages for SteamOS, since they can gradually gear it towards gaming in ways that Windows can't.

Watch all of the Metro video though. The SteamOS version simply won't allow the range of settings that the Windows version does. The configs reveal that settings there are different, and in SteamOS's case non-existent in some areas. So sure, the fps rate is seemingly better at first in SteamOS, but when the guy balanced the Windows one to a similar level it was actually performing the same (even a touch better?) than the Linux build.

These are early days of course, and I fully expect SteamOS to beat Windows for gaming over time.

it's set lower in steam box for prob a couple of reasons .. overheating will be one ..
there is a lot of power in a confined space ..
I'd like to see this again with a amd card in there ..

Same settings as in the Mac port of Metro:LL.

    Complain to Deep Silver.

Mostly. A few games fail to run due to missing dependencies - this is now a big bug, although it can be worked around.

Interesting. I'm reasonably capable with linux - would it just be a case of installing those dependencies?

Also, is there built in support for nvidia/amd cards? I know the AMD drivers are notriously difficult to install/remove..

AMD and NVIDIA drivers are preinstalled, but i think the AMD ones are blocked from loading. I haven't tested.
