Any way to get their products to the UK faster is a better thing in my books.
Yes, I can just see it now... Your home security Googlecams analyse their pictures of you and recommend an online pharmacy for that little rash you were trying to ignore. Meanwhile your Googlehot heating system detects that you've bumped up the temperature over the last couple of days and recommends a trip to Google's energy supplier switching site. Then finally your Google router spots you watching porn, so starts flipping up ads for adult "encounter" sites and adult supply shops.
As you can tell - I'm not necessarily a fan.

And that's it, in a nutshell.Privacy concerns?
For those Nest customers concerned about Google having so much data about their lives, Google has agreed that Nest’s privacy policy will remain unchanged. This means that Nest will only use information gathered from customers to improve its products and services and for nothing else.
"That was a major concern or question we had, and they have done an amazing job of convincing us that our privacy policies are going to be well-respected in their organization," Fadell said. However it's entirely possible that Google will try and push for a change in privacy policy again in the future as it would be easier for integrating Google products into your Nest.
Do I distrust Google over this?
Do fish swim? Do bears .... relieve themselves in the woods?
Google SmartThermostat in my home? Hell no. Not under any circumstances.
I don't object to the basic idea, but with Google all over it? No way.
Google+ Integration on the way!

Google noticed you turned up your heating today. Do you want to share on Google+?
I just find it difficult to believe the price Google paid. I don't claim to be an expert but it seems excessive.
