FVD has the same and was taken off the store
Don't Google review the addons in a similar fashion as FF ?
Would be amusing if they bough adblock+ and turned it into a mega spammer, never going to happen.
I will say I am staying with firefox for reasons like this, chrome does seem to be more a data logger than browser, yes you can turn much of it off, but the fact its all on by default is wrong.
Not sure what is with all the negative comments, google have removed addons after the developers of legit addons have sold themselves out.
Is this not a good thing done by google for the sake of end users ?
Fine, don't use Chrome. But at the end of the day the browser's got to be paid for in some fashion (unless it's some kind of open source project). So you either have to pay up front for it, or accept that you'll be targetted for ads. Remember that Google tried-blocking/did-block a Chrome version of ABP some time ago.
No problem with Google ads for the reason above, but these third parties trying to sneak adware in just stinks. I still remember - with a visible shudder - the "three rounds, three falls or a submission" that I had with a relatives PC that had become infected with the Ask Toolbar malware. So if Google want to zap these idiots then they get my thumbs up - although personally speaking a drone strike would be more appropriate!
