no it's not really .. not that portable and it takes up loads of room .. and what happens if the surface gets dirty ? or even scratched .. to many things can go wrong ..
What does it matter now if men believe or no?

Yeah, but with an Occulus rift, we're most of the way to something resembling a holodeck, and the problem I have of not being comfortable when sat down for extended periods is alleviated.

It doesn't take up a huge amount more room than a desk and chair, and the top of the sheet is just a sheet of metal, so it'll be pretty durable.

All in all, this is going on my winning the lottery list.

Re: News - Skyrim virtual reality demoed using omnidirectional treadmill

What is with all the nostalgic 90s-esque tech going around right now? Helmet-based VR and treadmills? It's like someone got a bunch of old 90s tech-based game shows (Gamesmaster? Cyberzone?), spent a weekend watching them and drinking bud, then decided to recreate the whole lot. The future is here - 20 years later...!

Now, if you'll excuse, I'm off to play Sonic 2 on my Master System

For some reason this kinda reminds me of when they made a giant BF3 simulator on the gadget show lol

Re: News - Skyrim virtual reality demoed using omnidirectional treadmill

Hmm, plus side is that you'd definitely get some exercise with this, and (going prone aside) it's probably a more "natural" way to do things (certainly better than WASD bashing!).

Downsides though is that you look like a dork, and I doubt this will be "inexpensive". That is, I'd be gobsmacked if the whole lot costs less than a XBone.

Some kind of VR glove arrangement though strikes me as a better way than Wiimote for Skyrim.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

I remember playing Sonic2 on my Master System, I'm also fairly certain it was available for the Game Gear as well.

If I remember correctly, the Master System version was the same as the Game Gear version, but different to the Megadrive version.

Well, it will beat the old stereotype that gamers are fat. after bumping into your first bear \ troll \ something that's going to eat you as a snack on skyrim, i can imagine a few pounds dropping off quite quickly.

classic. Yes, it would be something. Games could get rid of the stamina bar and base it on actual fitness! Now that would be something. How would you swim on this though? Same problem as prone, but even worse!
