Re: Reviews - Corsair Flash Voyager Go 64GB

I have one of these myself

I've got the 64GB edition to give my phone more space for music as the space on my handset is all filled. I can report that it works fine with the HTC One X but for some reason which I'll need to investigate, my Nexus 10 (32GB) doesn't see it when plugged into the microUSB port.

Had the same issue with USB OTG drives, turned out they aren't properly supported on the N10. An app called "Nexus Media Importer" fixed it for me. Not free, but cheap and does the job well.

Re: Reviews - Corsair Flash Voyager Go 64GB

OTG-compatible USB drives need to be able to act as either a host or slave device, depending upon circumstance, and the handset/tablet needs to be able to interface with the OTG drive.
This isn't quite correct. The device needs to be able to act as either a host or a slave to be a USB-OTG device (or rather, a USB-OTG device by definition is one that can act as either a host or a slave). The USB flash drive only ever acts as a slave, NEVER as a host, and needs no modification to be compatible with USB-OTG devices. This is easily demonstrated with a micro-USB to powered USB-A socket cable (some cheap devices only supply the absolute minimum 8mA, and some USB sticks may attempt to draw more than this) and a standard full-size USB stick, or USB HDD.

What happens when you plug in both ends at the same time?

    Thanks for that information

I've a couple of quid left on my google play account so I might invest in that application if it seems I'm going to be using the Nexus 10 more. I bought it on a whim and its main usage is for netflix for the youngster at home so it was a bonus if it worked out of the box with the Nexus.

Re: Reviews - Corsair Flash Voyager Go 64GB

If your nexus is rooted you can use a free app called Stickmount. So far I've tried it with flash drives & hard drives and works perfectly with an OTG cable.

I'm currently using a microSD USB card reader that costs less than £3 and I already had a few spare microSD's knocking about. Small enough to fit in my wallet & very reliable so far. This also works perfectly with my Nexus 7 using stickmount. I do have to remove the microSD if I want to use it with my Desire HD as it doesn't support OTG easily but its not often I need to do this. Also helps though that I can take my 32gb card out of my phone and turn into a USB drive.
    Highly recommend one of these!

I do like the look of the corsair drive and if it was a bit cheaper I'd probably get the 16gb drive.

At £24 for the 16GB you would be far better off saving up the extra £4 and get the 32GB.
