higher price for a longer warranty? 7 years seems too long, graphic cards are getting more efficient probably a GTX Titan category graphics 7 years from now will only be powered by the Pci-E bus power

Considering PSUs are practically the only component that survives upgrades AND rebuilds, hell potentially being the only component saved when you do the glorious brand-new-motherflippin'-new-system-oh-YES! build that you're lucky to experience more than once a decade (or once a relationship more likely) the price is completely justified.
Current rig is 4 years old, upgraded a few times, probably a mobo/cpu refresh in a year or 2, and won't even look at the PSU, previous PC to this was born as a core2duo built in '05 and still has same PSU
The PSU is the foundation for your PC and yet it's one area where many PC builders cheap out. This thing looks rock solid and would be a good starting point for an uber stable high end system.

Haven't had a good experience with Antecs warranty in the past... so... I'll pass.
My psu's tend to last me between 5-8yrs so yes I do not cheap out on them but I would still completely baulk at paying £188 for an 850w psu. In fact I bought an 850w Seasonic made PSU last month and that was only £109! Gold+ rated and long warranty too so I think Antec are way out on the pricing of this and I expect it'll be soon heavily discounted.
Damn I might need a new psu soon my cheap corsair cx750 is making weird noises though I wont be paying £188 for one, what was antec thinking! seriously i'd rather get a quality seasonic, enermax, bequit or maybe one of the corsair ax series psu
When you can get something like this for £155, it's hard to see how they can justify £188 for the Antec

The PSU is the heart of the build, to me. Also , it is the least appealing component. I have 2 Antec PSU out of 3 in my own computers. the first time i got one i thought it was a joke, there was just a sticker identifying it as the review noted. But, it is what goes on inside that counts and most people, even those who build their own, do not have a clue as to the functions of capacitors, or what a 12v rail is or where it is. i bet most people have never taken one apart, or opened one just to peek at the quality of the solder points or how well they are cleaned up before putting the top on.
I am thankful for this type of review as it points up the importance of things which can easily be overlooked as penny pinching begins for the next build. that extra $50 on a step up gpu or whatever. I have read plenty of psu reviews, many being so technical the info went right by me, this one was right on the money and good to know about this particular line of Antec having such astoundingly good numbers. and to stand behind if for 7yrs. I have had one Antec for about 4yrs and in its 2nd board/CPU/GPU and remains steady, cool and silent. I did not want to pay the extra premium for the platinum level at the time, the stats were well within and well under the standard for gold or silver levels.
while the reasoning for getting such a good piece of hardware is sound, and even knowing how much 'better' this is, I might be hard pressed to spend this much above for 850 when a superior 1000 can be had for the same tariff or spending the difference between another highly rated 850 on the next bump up gpu. this review , at least, gave me a good reason to go for this particular unit.
But 1000W is never superior to 850W. Either you need it, or you don't. If you don't then you're likely decreasing the efficiency, so wasting not just upfront costs but also ongoing electricity costs, which is less green, generates more heat etc. etc.

I did not mean, nor does this indicate in any way that a 1000w is superior to an 850watt, unless one is looking to find faults
I indicated that there are also Gold level -which is superior- as well as other superior brands for less money.
I did not want to begin to advertise for companies rather than make the point
there are other superior products in all wattage levels as another poster noted
I only get the power i need for my uses and for each build
I do not like to waste words in these posts. just put in as much as i can and sometimes am frugal with adjectives while praising the tact this review took with the explanation of the details. I do not usually spend this type of money for my 750w psus
I did not mean to ruffle feathers nor imply that any 1000w is better only based on size
as they often say 'size doesnt matter' or it is how you use it that is important. But, look at who says that.
