Recently picked up B:BC2 again after over a year away, and love it so much. Haven't played B3 or B4 since i refuse to use Origin (anyone let me know if it's still a pigs ear?), but BC2 remains awesome. Looks great too.

Honestly? That 'it's not Steam' is my main gripe.
I dont want multiple accounts for different game environments. I have absolutely no interest in whether it's a better business model for EA to have their own store, the fact is that it's a worse customer experience to have multiple stores. I also dont think that it's anything like as well designed as Steam is, and they keep mucking me about with email verifications left right and centre, and because i use it very infrequently i forget my passwords....
The day they decided not to launch BF3 through Steam was the day they alienated me.

Might be a good excuse to try something older as I never got into BC2 when it originally came out.
I like how Steam is publisher independent.
Origin is pretty lackluster but not as bad as UPlay, I hate the fact with BF3+4 you have to load Origin, load a browser, load the game. Why can't it just be in 1 application? Oh yes because that would be too simple.
What about ArmA 2?
Im glad they're saving bad company 2, shame i cant say the same about the other two, never played them, the only other one i have played was 1942, that game was amazing but its seen the last of its days... R.I.P
origin works fine - if you played B:BC2 (or BF2) you already have your EA account linked to your email I presume. All you need do is download origin and log in with the EA account you already have
BF3 and BF4 are a pleasure (I bought BF4 3 weeks back - though not directly through origin, I got it at a large discount via greenmangaming, though I had all the other BF instalments @ release date)
I don't see any issue in having steam and origin - and like I said you already have the EA account, go for it.
word of warning, bf3 and bf4 require much higher spec rigs than previous BF instalments, might want to check whether your system is up to it before purchasing - though you can always turn down the eye candy and reduce resolution if needed
I know your pain, I've been there....but suck it up, as I keep saying to people in the same boat "Expect all the publishers to have their own content delivery systems soon"
Valve charge to release on Steam, publishers would rather have their own and that's the way the market is going. I can see Steam being primarily independent within a few years.

`saving`1 BF2142 but not fixing ll the server issues - gee....
moving titan 64 player map and you`ll find massive lag
As we do know now (more than half a year later), this has just been another promise by EA.
I feel sorry for the poor hard working customer service guys at EA that just get made looking stupid by their management over and over again.
In specific the fact that BF2 had already been published on steam means that the work already had been done to an extend. So this is a pure waste of man power and a total lack of understanding the picture they draw to their customers by those actions (well, no actions should be more correctly?).
Why should anyone pay full price plus a proper premium knowing that the games become worthless after a few years. Good games, that were fun and are now completely dysfunctional.
Bearing in mind that EA once even had started the attempt to transition older games onto newer engines like the promised BF 1943. Yes, right, another of those promises. Its even been available for preorder.
What makes it worse is the fact that the frostbite based Battlefields had rather been beta versions that riped over the years at the customers. Just to be threatened as soon as it starts working half decently to be without servers?
The web installers will make it almost impossible to even play single player in (hopefully) a few years time not to talk about local hosting.
