Think I will give this a go as the monitoring software that came with my mobo does not work well in Windows 8 at all with certain modules of it refusing to install and others failing to load.

Could be a useful app (especially with the phone app to come) but am concerned as to what the angle is here that NZXT are working. Surely they are not doing this out of the kindness of their heart so how are they going to make money out of it?

They are probably selling their name rather than the app itself. They won't be able to sell this for much anyways so it won't be about making profit but more free advertising for their brand.

I use their sentry 2 myself and have no problems with their monitoring software or hardware.

Assuming this can monitor more than one pc this may actually be useful for 'headless' pc's (ie render farm/servers etc) Can't see it mentioned but does it have 'remote shutdown' like the asus (and others) tool has, they're pretty much identical in concept...

Cloud-based monitoring software - smells like spyware to me - sell your data 'anonymously' = profit.

Maybe I'm just no fun, but I've never really understood why people use tools like these. Some people seem to have an obsession bordering on 'OCD' with their temperatures and fan speeds - I just never really got it, personally. I know roughly where my CPU and GPU tend to 'peak' during heavy load and don't see any need to really monitor that, unless I started to have specific issues with something crashing, which I can't say I have since the days of the Radeon 9800.

For servers it's perhaps a little more useful but even then, it's arguably just as easy to remote desktop into the offending machine and head to task manager.

It all bothers me (irrationally, I admit) - in the same way that those tacky LED-display drive bay units annoy me, with millions of knobs on the front to change each individual fan speed. Step awaaaaaaay from 2005, sir.

Nah, that's where the fun is at!!
I like my PC to look like 'futuristic' 80s TV tech, so lots of moving lights and buttons and dials and LED digital displays and stuff, heh heh - No touchscreens or glow-effect LED strips for me!!

my case, 3d render nodes without monitors, software which monitors heat and if the fans are working etc are useful. If my fan fails, my cpu could overheat which could basically kill my pc. Remote desktop would take resources away from rendering so not exactly ideal on a 'long term' basis.

I think i'll give it a go, I can see the remote app being handy if i'm out in the garden in the summer having a few drinks while my PC indoors is working it's a#se off encoding a dozen movies in 40 c heat. In that scenario I can just pick up my tablet/pause music (or not) and check the temps' and see if my pump is still running. I use CPU temp and GPU temp anyway so hopefully the memory footprint won't be much larger.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I'm comfortable having all of the info of my machine stored in the cloud. It's monitoring software, if it does anything sneaky that isn't just temps and so forth I wouldn't be surprised.

Jeez it's unusable as hell. It crashes whenever it gets the slightest whiff of any other program running.

60MB for monitoring software? Lightweight! I don't monitor my PC unless the software is 240MB or more.

That's why RealTemp (1MB), GPU-Z (1MB), CPU-Z (2MB), HWMonitor (2MB) and a host of other small but handy utilities have no place on my system.

After 24 hours, CAM is using ~220MB and is still creeping upwards.
