I'm guessing this is server side translation? So the client isn't really doing anything special, just effectively showing subtitles. So any Skype app could do this.
Can Google Glass do video overlays? That would be really close to a Babel Fish, and possible pretty much right now.
I remember seeing the MS Research videos on this last year - showing a guy speaking in Chinese to an english speaking person, and it worked really really well. I didn't realise it was so close to being "consumerised", and for some reason hadn't clicked that Skype would be a great vehicle for that.
Exciting innovative stuff imo, looking forward to trying it out for myself!
