I imagine as more and more companies move from desktops to laptops, the number will keep dropping - surely enthusiasts make up a pathetically small proportion of the market? I don't think that 4K and the like will be changing things any time soon.

I could be much more productive with a 4K screen at work, but the likelihood of my firm forking out for a laptop per employee, and then another £400 for monitors that we can only use when we're in the office? No chance.

Only when decent 4k monitors are below £300 will the average consumer actually be interested in them

I don't need any new screens at the moment I don;t think.

    24" 3D vision + glasses
27" IPS for none 3D gaming etc
40" Samsung TV via HDMI for some games.

Until a decent 4K 3D screen appears at a reasonable price along with 20 nm graphics cards from nvidia I'll be holding fire myself.

not the time for 4k gaming, maybe next 2 years, for now someone will be force to pay the 600 euro price for a pro video 4k display,i think ips will not keep up with monitors
