Power lines and specifications seem very good. Reminds me of the old Tagan PSUs. Always nice to see a single 12v rail rather than it being spread out to cut costs. At the price they're pushing at, looks very nice for a budget system.
how would this compare to the budget 80 plus range of antec for example which is available for £24?
I'd rather get a HEC/Cougar or a PSU based on these (EVGA 430/500W (100-W1-0430-KR and 100-W1-0500-KR respectively) or the 80 Plus Bronze certified 500B variant) if it has to be cheap than any Xilence or LC-Power firecrackers. The fact that they've been bought out by Listan/Be Quiet with their track record of sh*tty Capxon capacitors in cheaper units isn't anything I would consider positive either..
Right now I'm sticking with a good old Seasonic S12 II rebadge (XFX Pro Series 450W Bronze (P1-450S-X2B9)) for most new builds.
Puts them inline with the Corsair CX series.
Tough competition there.
The OEM is HEC on these and they have weak 12v rails, especially the 530w and 630w versions which only have 456w and 540w respectively on the 12v rail. Any decent modern psu should be able to deliver the full output on the 12v rail. The 430w has 408w and the 730w has 672w on the 12v rail. Yes I know they are cheap but they are not really the power they are pretending to be.
