    My kids opinion on IV:
Dad, this is lousy, all the decent stuff you've got to pay extra for. Any chance we can get a Netflix subscription instead?

    And it's hard to disagree.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

Re: News - Amazon confirms impending Prime Instant Video Android App

Took them long enough. They have had a lovefilm app for the Fire (which is based on android?!?!) for a very long time and had a crap iPad app for ages as well.

I only have Instant Video because I have a prime sub, if it was still separate I wouldn't ever bother.

This may mean I keep my Prime subscription when it comes up for renewal.

Yes IV could do with more content, but we quite like the fact that you can rent or even buy newer titles that simply aren't available in any form on other platforms.

Re: News - Amazon confirms impending Prime Instant Video Android App

I also have ditched lovefilm instant video, as soon as it switched to amazon and split disc rental which meant I could keep the later for a nice saving.

Lack of android app was part of it, but no subtitles (is a must in my household) was the killer for me. Netflix have brought these over but amazon have these in the US, why can they not apply them in the UK. I get lovefilm was separate but as soon as it switched why not?

Will be switching sooner or later to netflix which integrates nicely on even more platforms, windows 8, chromecast for example.

Re: News - Amazon confirms impending Prime Instant Video Android App

Well, personally, my view is that the more of this kind of stuff Amazon stuff into Prime, especially after recent price hikes, the less interested I get. I had (note past tense) Prime for three reasons, and three only :-

    - delivery services,
    - delivery services, and
    - delivery services.

Personally, and this may put me in a minority, I have ZERO interest in video content on portable devices. Zip. None at all. Not even on a 10" tablet.

For me, either a video of whatever type is worth watching on a decent, proper screen, from an armchair, or it's not worth watching.

So, not at all interested in this, and I lost interest in Prime after the last price rise . This doesn't make a blind bit of difference.

Re: News - Amazon confirms impending Prime Instant Video Android App

Amazon prime is such a very shady set up , I trialed it for a month and then they took money out of my account without my authority and would not refund me...

Re: News - Amazon confirms impending Prime Instant Video Android App

IT's been a long time coming. I didn't realise you can separate out the disk rental and instant video, I'll be giving them a call today. There's not a lot on IV that I want to watch...

I did the same a few weeks ago, did it through the online form and even got refunded the Instant Video part of my subscription for the last year as I hadn't used it. Still have Lovefilm by post, but it's a pain to use now it's on Amazon

Re: News - Amazon confirms impending Prime Instant Video Android App

Ah, see I have used it, maybe twice since it went Amazon...

Hang on a minute - just seen that Rush is on Prime IV. Maybe I'll watch that then cancel...

Anyway, the app can't be a bad thing, as long as it's Chromecast compatible, it would save me the massive hassle of switching my PS3 on and changing the input on my amp...

Re: News - Amazon confirms impending Prime Instant Video Android App

I've signed up to a trial for Amazon Prime instant.
    I followed their instructions http://www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&node=5232168031
Guess what? It doesn't work. Tries it on 2 phones and 1 tablet all unsuccessfully.
Looking at the reviews, it seems that half of them are 1 star as people could not get it working.
So I filed a complaint to the ASA as it's completely false to advertise a feature that does not work half the time.

It works fine for me on 3 phones 2 tablets and a couple of pcs. Seems like amazon tech support would be a better bet than the asa.
