One campaign I won't be backing. If Valve are making HL3 then leave them alone and let them get on with... If they don't want to go public that's fine with me. It is harassment IMHO and a bit of sad demonstration of how "people power" can balloon some people's sense of entitlement in the need to know everything about a given topic etc.

People are impatient, I loved HL and am eagerly awaiting HL3 but wouldn't go so far to pressure the developers.
We don't want another Duke Nukem.
I think this might be one of those very rare occasions where I would get more use out of my money as toilet paper...
I'm something of a HL freak... according to steam, I'm well into the 100's of hours played on HL2 and episodes... and seriously want closure in the worst kind of way. But this is just... silly.
Whilst I approve of their desire to see HL3, this won't have any effect on Valve.
Valve works on Valve time and due to the lack of a vertical management structure, the employees pretty much work on what they want.
Until enough Valve employees want to work on HL3 (and hopefully unify it with Portal 2 for co-op play), we'll be out of luck alas.
Ad agency interns trying to pay themselves, capitalising on the already famous desire for a game. "How can we get potato salad kickstarter money?" By doing your jobs? "No, how about we demonstrate to the world that we're useless hacks who could never make it in the world as actual ad execs?"
Vultures. Yeah, I know, lighten up. Vultures, though.
Well put sir.
I quietly hoping the game is actually in some form of existence, but I'm certain they wont let us have it till its ready, and thats the way it should be... with all games.
Sometimes the duality of gamers can be quite confusing, they complain when things are rushed and buggy but then do things like this to try and get things released sooner.

I want to play HL3, really I do. But when I play it, I want it be just right and I don't think pressuring Valve into releasing a game is in the interests of those that want to play it. Games that are rushed through to meet a deadline are seldom very good. IMHO. So I won't be backing this campaign.
After Star Citizen I fear a lot of games will be jumping on a band wagon of crowd funding.
I think the issue is that Valve clearly haven't had HL3 as a high priority and this ad campaign is trying to change that, it's not like they've been working full time on it and it's just not ready yet, they're working on other games/projects instead. There may be very good reasons for that, but Valve have decided not to elaborate on that (a smart move on their part IMO).
While I don't think this will work in getting HL3 released any sooner, it won't hurt. I say well done for the effort, and I hope they make the $45,000 goal, because that would be hilarious
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
Valve know how desirable HL3 is to the public, maybe they are actually making it, maybe they are waiting for the next generation of technology, maybe they're leaving it as is at the end of HL2 with having battled off the aliens ability to get to earth (IIRC)?
I was trying to remember the image above, found it
The community united pretty well a couple of years back when we all played HL2 again on a set day. Usage levels spiked massively. Still made no difference. It just seems like they've lost interest in making HL games which is a crying shame - most of my PC builds and upgrades in the past have centred around the series and its mods. The fact that we're still actually anticipating it after seven years must show that we're keen!
This thread made me think that I missed the launch of Episode 3.

Guess I have not.
