While the drawbacks are understandable for a system that's this thin, it does make you wonder why don't they shut the gpus when in battery mode and add a docking cooling station for gaming sessions.

Just seems pointless overkill in the GPU department don't you think? What's the point in 130-odd FPS? As the review mentions, the setup demands a higher res really. Don't understand why you'd pay the premium over something that can run titles comfortable over 60fps with better battery life. If you're hooking it up to an external display it kind of defeats the point..!
Considering that you cannot easily upgrade the CPU and GPU in most laptops,it would mean you would get good longevity as a gaming machine I suspect.
Personally, I could never justify such a lap top when I have a desktop to do all that hi-res gaming stuff, and a laptop for mobile work related stuff.
Not really much point in setting the throttle threshold so low, considering how quickly Haswell changes temps, not to mention how from the remaining 30ºC, more than half of it could be used without any reason for concern, as long as the GPUs were kept relatively cool.
Got to say, I am quite find the Aorus quite appealing. As I need a laptop that is easily transportable when necessary, but also powerful enough as desktop replacement, I have been quite interested in both the Aorus and the Razer Blade. One of the things I have been wanting to see on the Aorus was an IPS screen, and it seems they have now done it. It might not be perfect just yet, but if they keep improving, it might just be the one for me by the time I need a new laptop.
It's probably alright coming from Asus, but I just don't trust the reliability of that over the years if you regularly game and do intense tasks.
Aorus is part of Gigabyte, not Asus. Not sure how that affects reliability (never owned a Gigabyte machine, and it has been a very long time since I've used an Asus), but let's not confuse people.

This 970m or the 980m really push the notebook performance! I wish the CPU on notebook can clock higher bring it closer to the desktop ones
