People still use Vista O.o
that vista user was shocking me LOL
I don't see how Vista is so shocking, Vista SP3 has the largest percentage.
I will say the only reason I gave up Vista was cheap upgrade prices to 7 and then 8, if I every want an uber cheap legit OS Vista licenses can be had for next to nothing, with sp2 its solid, quick and reliable.
Never been a fan of Vista and 7 nearly always performs much better on the same hardware. Kinda a no-brainer in my eyes.
Win 10 - I'm liking what I've seen so far, much better than 8.1 for me, but as my laptop doesn't have touch I prefer it just for that reason alone
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
Same deal here - although in my case the laptop is running Ubuntu anyway , but my desktop (like most peoples I guess) isn't "touch enabled".
I've come to the conclusion that the Vista install we had (installed by Dell and then debloated) must have been a bad one, judging on the number of folks "coming out of the woodwork" to praise it. Vista for me - even with the SP's - was glacially slow, horribly annoying and an eater of battery. Windows7 (despite the Vista-fans claim that "it's just a service pack for Vista) was an improvement in every single aspect). And given that the laptop in question was SWMBO's - it was worth splashing out for an Windows7 license (not upgrade) just to put an end to the complaints.
Windows8/8.1 has that Vista-esque ability to annoy the bejabbers out of me, so I've high hopes that Windows10 will be a similar improvement to 8 as 7 was to Vista.
This always makes me laugh
Windows is pretty much installed on most new PC's, unless the consumer jumps through a lot of hoops. So of course it starts to take market share by default as new computers are sold.
If it were offered as a choice which people could accept or decline then market share would be relevant, as it is eventually as people replace aging PC's then market share goes up
I'm sure microsoft stopped oem's shipping new systems with windows 7 a few months back which may account for win 8's uptake. I'm still running vista on an old laptop which I tried to run with Ubuntu but performance was terrible because of a lack of drivers for it, my main rig still runs 7 though. Also I just upgraded my mothers PC to windows 7 from windows 8.1 and she seems much happier with it now
Not including DirectX 12 is a sure way to manipulate a large portion of the market away from windows 7
What is Microsoft? They make operating systems? Wow, I didn't know that.
All microsoft is doing is **** us in the arse with its forced sales.
Yeah Microsoft is the devil and Apple is not forcing anything onto their hardware... right right?
