Re: Valve launches live game streaming in Steam beta

I do like the way Valve are moving with Steam just wish they had done this before they wanted to compete with consoles. Seems that decision has really lit a fire under them, forcing major changes to their software.

I think they've pretty much covered all 3rd party software now.....just a shame that all the big companies are trying to rip their software away from Steam

Re: Valve launches live game streaming in Steam beta

I really don't see why I would want to watch somebody else play a game and likewise why anybody would want to watch me.

With that it is impressive how steam is developing, even if I don't want all the features I can see how it may be good to some.

Think about watching an actual person play a game before you drop £30 on it.. rather than the post produced trailers we get fed

This is the sole reason I've ever watched a Let's Play. If the guy is interesting I'll keep watching but the first searches are me interested in how the game actually plays and if it even looks interesting.

Re: Valve launches live game streaming in Steam beta

I tried this last night. A user has a few new settings to accommodate this, raning from letting anyone view, or views by invite only.

I liked it. I'll jump into a friends game and watch them do parts of a mission I am struggling with, or just to harass them via the "Screen Chat" function.

I think it'll be ideal for scoping new games out before laying down the cash, and also just to see broadcasts of new features by developers etc.

Don't developers of the games that are streamed have the option to disable their games that are being aired? It is a pro-consumer device the Steam streaming but in some cases, the permitting of streaming could be censored.

Yeah I can see this possibly happening like it did on the play-station 4
