As the first fully HSA 1.0 compliant chip I'm really hoping Carrizo isn't only going to be released on mobile platforms.
I wish for a new FX that can hit intel's i7.
It will be a win win for amd and intel customers for sure, because it will make intel finally drop the prices.
Couldnt agree more. C'mon AMD bring it on.
AMD is definitely releasing the new gen 'zen core' cpu in 2016 (I think in Q1). AMD are ditching CMT (clustered multi threading as found in FX cpu's) in favour of their new SMT (simultaneous multi threading)feature. It will be akin to intel's hyperthreading. So no more modular architecture as AMD will implement genuine full fat cores. Jim Keller himself has said the new zen core is a very good design. The rumors are that AMD's flagship cpu will have 12 cores at 6GHz each core. I hope so, as AMD were the first to break the 1GHz barrier for cpu's and gpu's and they were the first to make dual, quad, hex and octa cores. So I think there could be some truth in this rumour. However, I really hope AMD don't go the same way as intel and reduce the number of cpu cores (since test samples of the new zen core is very fast and efficient). I had a 4790K and it was totally useless when it came to handling heavy multi-threaded workloads. Turned out intel's 'virtual cores' is a very poor substitute for actual physical cores. In the end, I went for an FX9590 and it is working like a dream.

A 12 core 6GHz chip using "full fat" cores? I'll believe it when I see it and it's not a 300W water-cooled behemoth.
I feel it's a bit of a shame if they are moving away from modular, I thought the idea was good and with x86 and ARM being as prevalent as they are now, modular seemed to make a bit of sense.
Still over a year to wait :S
