I think the longer they leave it the more it will harm the platforms chance. I've had a media centre PC sitting at the TV for the last few years and if Steam OS can deliver it will be a game changer for me.

I did try out Steams streaming feature when it first arrived and I was not impressed, that could be down to the 4 year old orange livebox we currently use though.

I just ordered an Nvidia Shield Tablet a couple days ago which can also steam games from your PC. If that works well and has some fun games (aside from my steam collection) it could harm the steam machine's future. Especially if Nvidia have a more powerful chip on the way that ends up in another Shield device.

Issue with that is the requirement for an nVidia GPU tho.

If they don't the media streaming sorting from netflix et al then I don't think they will take off. I know I won't bother making/buying a box before it does that.

If game streaming and netflix is working I'm sold. Stick it on one of those new intel sticks = Win!

Ah yes that very true about the need for a recent Nvidia GPU (600 series+ I believe). I don't use any streaming film/tv service personally, I know Android supports netflix etc so i'll keep my fingers crossed that Steam OS does too.
Those new HDMI sticks though, I'm not sure I could trust one not to overheat and drop its connection after some prolonged use, but hey perhaps i'm just not trusting enough of new tech to deliver its promises !

I agree, the longer they leave it the more chance they have of it just turning into one of those great ideas(at the time!)

You could say it could run out of Steam boom boom
