Sounds like another reason to stick with Amazon. However Netflix has recently announced film deals with Adam Sandler to star and produce four films to be shown exclusively on its service
I can't see the quality being all that good, but given how well done "most" of the Amazon TV shows are... who knows. They might yet surprise us all.
I finished watching Amazon's award winning 'comedy' transparent yesterday and thought it was the worst tv show I've seen in years. Not at all funny, crude & sex obsessed.
I'll be honest that, I went in blind metaphorically speaking and only watched it because it received awards. I really should have read a bit about it first. The fact it is labelled a comedy to me is blatant mis-advertising too, it should really fall under the 'drama' banner.
Then again, didn't that "Modern Family" also get a Globe so, to use an Americanism, "color me unimpressed".Even though the Amazon seems to lag behind competitor Netflix with original series, its show 'Transparent' managed to win acclaim at the Golden Globes. The win marks the first time that a best-series award in the television category was presented to a streaming service at the Globes.
Can I get a discount on my Netflix subscription because of this please? Still, could be worse, could be Ben Stiller...The Amazon Original Movies will be ammunition in Amazon's battle with Netflix. However Netflix has recently announced film deals with Adam Sandler to star and produce four films to be shown exclusively on its service.
Okay, hope they get a good director then - and resist the temptation to do a "Transformers" (brainless stunt fest).Furthermore Netflix said it would release a sequel to the acclaimed film 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' around the globe.
I'm still not that impressed with Amazon PV - if it was a Netflix-style "all you can eat" deal on the subscription then it'd be fine. But to charge subscription then charge extra for "premium" content is just daft. Especially as the titles I checked were actually more expensive than I can get them for from Virgin on demand.
My main issue with Prime is there severe lack of Android support. They have had the app running on KindleFire (android based) for a long long time, they have also had it running on iOS for equally long.
They released their android version couple months ago and its crap. Most people are having issues even getting it open. You have to enable unknown sources, install the Amazon marketplace APK, download PRIME from within the app and even then it normally complains and doesn't work.
