Re: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 G1 Gaming

280x offers better value, even GTX 760 is better than this card, i dont know why Nvidia released this card, but i expect 960 Ti in the works to fill the big gap between this and GTX 970.

Anyway, after Nvidia's false advertising the 970 GTX and G-Sync is nothing but a DRM and everything is done via software, i no longer trust Nvidia and will switch to AMD.

Re: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 G1 Gaming

I feel the need to mention that there was recently a r9-290 on for £201 including delivery...it was also a Asus DCII one! And it's jumped back up to the outlandish price of £205! Disgraceful...

The fact that this exists and will sell any amount of units is disgraceful!

But a fool and his money...

Re: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 G1 Gaming

NVidia have a bit of habit of doing this - every few generations they release a mid-range card that's a big disappointment. Think the 560 was the last one? Just seem to get the performance balance wrong for one reason or another - this time it seems to be the bizarrely hobbled memory bus.

If they've got any sense they'll release a 'Ti' version in a few months with a proper memory backend - that might actually be worth buying. This one's definitely not though!

Re: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 G1 Gaming

They can be great cards once the value settles - it's the initial too high price that's the problem. The 560 went on to be a good little bargain card with nothing really close to it for a while.

Very true My 560ti has lasted me nearly 4 years now and i'm about to upgrade it to a GTX 960 - the step down from the G1 though (windforce 2). Its £25 cheaper and very very similar in performance terms. Best card I could find for the money - £250+ for a 970/980 is just too much for me at the moment, especially when my only driver for upgrading is for a better oculus rift experience
