I know it's not good to pigeon hole yourself and commit before you've had a chance to evaluate something *cough* Pre-odering *cough* but I was so happy with my HTC One M7, and remain to be even with its flaws, I knew that in 2 years time I'd probably be looking at the HTC One family for my new phone.

And this looks to be true still. It looks well made and like it will feel premium ( which a smartphone should, you spend £500+ on a device and you will hold it in your hand for at least 2 years after all ! ). It's specs seem as up to date as is possible and I'm hoping they've made progress with the audio (not that's it bad but in 2 years you would hope some progress had been made!) as it was my favourite part of the phone.

I also hope there is the HTC M9+ ( or whatever they are going to call it ) as that would probably be the one I would choose.

You can probably make the same argument against people with CrossFire/SLi setups and any kind of processor overclocking too.

Personally, I buy into the high end smartphone, not because of any desire to "tackle wave" but more because those high-end devices tend to be powerful enough to last a couple of years. Typically I replace on a 3 year cycle. Something I'm not sure I could do if I went for a low end Samsung, (and needless to say iPhones wouldn't get a look in at that £100 price point), although the 600 series Lumias are actually pretty impressive.

Not that bothered by the M9, (although some wag suggested that "if you want to see what the iPhone7 will look like, get a pic of the M9"), because of the non-replaceable battery and the rumours that it'd be without SD card expansion.

This is one device I am looking forward to. I am hoping that they make a max version of it. Wish more phones had front facing speakers.

I'm curious on this one as it's the phone i've been waiting for to replace my Nexus 5. I'm relieved that they seem to have stuck with a 5" screen and hopefully they will be using an edge to edge screen or similar to keep the size down. I've been converted to giant phones with the 6plus i have from work, but still want a more normal size one for me.

We'll find out in a month

Was looking at getting the latest M9 to replace my M7... Until I dropped and smashed the screen on my M7. Gutted. Got a replacement through insurance and now see 0 reason to upgrade in 2 months when my contracts up. Will another massive outlay really mean a phone that's more beneficial than my M7? Nah.

Same boat, the M7 was superb, I really couldn't ask for much more (except an SD card slot!)........I would have probably kept the M7 if it wasn't for my brother drooling over it (and he cannot afford a high-end smartphone) and the Orange/EE friends and family scheme (meaning you get 40% off the handset if your savy)

Could do with a marginally larger screen as well....

She was running a 3 year old One X, I think she would still be happy to keep that except the battery life is now rubbish and replacing the battery has some risk given you aren't supposed to.

I was going to wait for the M9 to come out but, frankly, the LG having SD card slot and user replacable battery as well as the price seemed all too attractive.

I'm surprised to see people on a web site dedicated to cutting edge technology lambast a company for adding cutting edge tech into a smartphone. It truly baffles me. Your £100 phone has quad core, and 3 years ago you would have scoffed at a phone ever having that tech in the first place.
It benefits everyone eventually.
Like with cars. Parking sensors were the domain of Mercedes and other high end motors. And now you get them on Ford Fiestas,etc. And so, Octa cores will be on the £100 phones in a few years.
Bring on the epic tech in tiny devices. I love it

Anything powered by Intel or NVIDIA I would love to get and have immense interest in, BUT living in the states options are limited to only mainstream garbage. It's the same with cars! There isn't a single car in US that appeals to me but the appeal is endless when looking at the UK, Germany and even Japan markets.
