    Looooool, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like this whenever I see biometric stuff mentioned.

    I would rather lose a thumb than an eye, too. So no iris tech for me

    Biometrics will often check for signs of life (not certain about these implementations), but I'm not sure how many people would have to be concerned about the data on their phone being worth that much.

    Still, the thing I'm uncomfortable with, is you cannot ever change biometrics - if someone keeps a log of them and can create an analogue (e.g. silicone fingertips), what do you do then? Again, maybe not overly important for most phones as it's more of a convenience thing and should be plenty to stop people casually reading your emails for instance.
