Normally don't care for these sort of things but I actually really like that, even for a non-gaming productivity pov like working from home it would be pretty good.

'The project has successful broken through its modest $5,000 funding goat'

I had to chuckle at this

Or even for graphics tablet users (gtab on the mouse section, reference pics via the tablet slot).

    $98 - plus $56 shipping. Really? It's $8 for domestic, shipping isn't that much.

It's odd that it only supports up to 15" notebooks, when the majority of "gaming notebooks" are 17". Gonna be a small market.
    * Edit: Missed the line about forthcoming 17" version. I hang my head in shame.

Does cover that in the article:

Compatible with laptops from 11 – 15-inch screens and the Hover X+ can accommodate up to 17-inch machines.
Looking at pricing, there is currently a funding tier at $98 still available for 13 – 15-inch version of the Hover X and $138 for the 17-inch version.

I don't really understand the logic behind this, or laptop gaming in general... for that matter.

A core justification of the insane pricetags for gaming laptops is that they're a mobile powerhouse of sorts - you can take them on the train, planes, car journeys etc, which is fair enough. This device makes your expensive gaming laptop practically immobile. Well, you certainly wouldn't be able to whip this thing out on the train - it's enormous. You'd need a rucksack just to carry the desk in

I guess its down to most people who own gaming laptops that is the only PC gaming device they own (considering it prob cost them twice what it would of to build a desktop) so when at home that is what they game on. When living in flat shares I've been in positions where I didn't have the space for a full PC setup so laptop would of been the easier option (I had neither).

So at that point something like this could be useful for relaxing on sofa and using laptop.

As AlexKitch said tho it's way to expensive for what it is, I would prob justify £30 on it?
