Hmm, haven't checked the W10 install that my youngest teen is running on her NC10 netbook. Actually, kudos to Microsoft - apart from the ****** (insert expletive) setup that seems to require a Microsoft account to get into parts of setup - W10 is actually pretty good. Certainly seems to run fine on the limited hardware of the NC10.
As to Spartan, this sounds like something el kiddie would be really interested in. Apart from the Cortana integration that feature list sounds all useful stuff.
Ok on the Windows Update screen changed my Advanced Options to give me updates "faster" and 10049 is now on download

Downloading 10049 right now. Windows 10 is shaping up to be a worthy succcessor to W7
After using the insider version for couple of months now, all I have to say about win10 is that it's just win8 with few UI elements changed because people were crying. It still is the same horrible tablet like windows with tablet apps and tablet UI all over it that make no sense in desktop pc. It's like buying laptop that has manufacturers skin and crapware, except now its in clean windows.
Except for the fact that it's 20-25% faster, as a beta product, and uses far less resources, yep - it's just a pig with lipstick on.
Now, to be on topic, Spartan is.... interesting. It's obviously not 100% ready for primetime. It kind of chokes on pages with LOTS of images, and it doesn't deal well with Youtube ads (not spent enough time to install an adblocker yet). It DOES work just fine without Flash installed, and for most pages, it's fairly quick.
Overall, I still don't think it's ready to go on my main box as a daily driver, but it's very close. A lot closer than 7 was at the same stage of development.
Anyone notice that comments have been disabled for the video on youtube ?
I've used it a lot less than you have (days rather than months) but I'm not really in agreement. While there's definitely stuff I don't like (Microsoft account needed to do some basic admin - e.g. install updates), general impressions were good. Certainly the Metro sh... stuff has been pushed to the background unless you say otherwise. W10 is an OS I could tolerate, unlike 8/8.1 which annoys me to laptop-throwing level in less than 10 minutes.
Thanks for this - not had a chance to "march with Spartan", but sounds like it could perhaps eventually wean me off of Chrome (on Windows at least), Interesting to see you say that there's adblocks available - I thought Spartan was too new for that kind of useful development.
Agree with posts here in that Win 10 could be a "tuned" Win 8.1 and am guessing as the developing costs were less because of this, MS can give it away for free...as for Spartan it needs time to use and compare with the browser I'm using.... which is Firefox.
