Oh the excitement of a GPU slightly faster than an 980 probably priced at £600 or more.

It's probably going to be around 33-50% faster depending on the resolution. I wouldn't call that "slightly" when they they are so similar.

Basically the titans which didn't make the grade, might as well sell them on I suppose.

That's basically how every chip is treated. Which makes sense. You wouldn't have a 290 if all the 290x's were made perfectly. Saves scrapping a butt load of perfectly fine chips, even if they were what they were initially hoped to be.

Assuming this is a genuine picture of the new card, am I the only person that feels nvidia are being a bit lazy with regard to the cooler design? It basically hasn't changed in 2 years now

If it works and all that...

If they did change what is a successful design, I think they'd face calls of penny pinching etc.

Well they're reusing the same cooler each time, but the price stays the same, maybe it even climbs a bit. No one seems to be calling them out.

You would still have them......for the same reason we had the 6950s (when all the chips were capable of being 6970s): It allows you to have "premium" cards that cost more.

The cooler is great, why change it? The cards with these coolers have nice temperatures and low noise.......why change a winner formula? AMD could learn a thing or two here instead of strapping expensive water coolers or leaf blowers on their cards.

They can keep the internals, that actually affect performance.

This is going to the full 6Gb, not 5.5Gb or less?

It's certainly going to be more than 4GB.

They're charging more for the cooler? I didn't know you could get it separately. I'd have expected them to charge more for the chip underneath, not the cooler.

I mean they've reused the same cooler on all of the top tier graphics cards, meaning they haven't had to re-engineer it every time they release a new GPU. My thinking was, since they're saving money on designing the new cooler, the saving would be passed onto consumers
