"Users can use Corsair Link software to control and monitor temperatures, fan speed, pump speeds, and the RGB LED logo on the cooling block" presumably the firmware will brick itself & no longer obey the user, within about a week, like the AX-series power supplies?

Does that keyboard/mouse mat monstrosity come with a $59.99 cup holder?

There was a lot of R&D that went into that, I mean it isn't something anyone else has ever thought of...

I wouldn't mind owning one, but not until I win the lottery or someone gifts me £200 for it. I won't spend my money on an overpriced keyboard with a mouse pad next to it, got a wireless keyboard and mouse that do that for me already.

    Keyboard/mouse tray.... how much....

Case... can't see any reason to buy it over say a Silverstone Milo Series ML07/Raven RVZ01 which is smaller and would likely work out cheaper too.

Sorry, this is a Corsair product.
If you want that level of tat, you'll have to look at the Razer site!

It's nice, I guess... Definitely aimed at the young-with-high-disposable-income market that consoles were made for, though.
Still, if it brings living-room people over to PC gaming and nudges devs into not dumbing things down so the X-Bone can cope, I'm all for it!

Re: Corsair aims Bulldog DIY 4K Gaming PC at the living room

Bulldog looks pretty innovative, it's just a shame they couldn't make it smaller than the RVZ02 (or even the RVZ01 from the looks of it) from silverstone, which was displayed 5 months ago, even with its custom cooling. Since it also has two pumps, it'll never get as quiet as an air cooled PC at idle. I'm also a bit worried about the noise levels of that radial fan (should've used the fancy word, rather than blower there, Corsair ). Also interesting to note that they didn't say the CPU cooler is quiet, which could be telling.

Re: Corsair aims Bulldog DIY 4K Gaming PC at the living room

Pretty average SFF case design with unappealing aesthetics. We're not exactly looking at the pinnacle of innovation with this, which wouldn't be an issue if they hadn't advertised it as if it was going to be a mind-blowing game changer.
The CPU cooler is reasonably interesting as an idea however overall nothing special.

Really don't see a huge market for this at all and the whole lapdog thing is so far past the plot, the plot is a dot to it.

The best thing to do with an AXi PSU in terms of handling Corsair Link is to install the hardware dongle, install the software package, configure every PSU feature the way the user wants to and uninstall (or at the very least stop running) the software as the PSU will retain user settings within the unit.

Seriously, how can a piece of software that's absurdly useful (and needed) for so many Corsair products be in beta for over 3 years, with oh so many bugs remaining?

I think you are right with the target market. Pretty sure if I wanted to buy this the styling would get a veto from the wife on the grounds of "what the heck does that match in our living room". She would be right too, under the TV has stuff like a surround amp but nothing with funky angles and red highlights. She hardly batted an eyelid when I installed an Antec Fusion in the rack, and that is a pretty big case for uATX, but it is quiet and it blends in.

The big problem is the device firmware bricking itself.

And despite using the same branding, the controller in the AXi-series is totally different to all other Corsair products (and the protocol is different too)
