Shame, I was quite looking forward to getting a tech "talking piece" for the living room - especially as that looks a wee bitty like one of the old Cray supercomputer designs.

So that's another high density flash announcement ... at this rate (unless these are earmarked for enterprise customers only) my next gaming machine build will be all-SSD except for the drive for backup image storage. As it is I'm thinking about perhaps swapping my discrete OS/Apps/User three disk setup for a single area based on RAID5'd SSD's.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

This will bring higher capacity SSDs and lower prices, can't really increase SATA speed but for M.2 and PCIe interface this could push faster speeds there, and of course increased reliability is great also. I would love a 1 or 2 TB M.2 3D-NAND with NVMe. Maybe next year my dreams will become real.

SSD IV is nowhere to be seen and it wouldn’t surprise me to see PCI NVMe saturated soon as well. Singularity at last

Still none of these NAND announcements are exciting me with XPoint looming on the horizon....

Will these NAND advancements be too little too late or will XPoint fail to deliver on it's promises.....until I know either way I think I will have to eek my current storage out!
