It's a keyboard that was poorly received even when it was launched, never mind today, packaged with an emulator, which would be free anyway. The only point is to have a ZX Spectrum shaped thing you can use with your current TV/PC/Tablet.

I think the 'unlock' of the device refrred to is the 'unlock' of the keyboard so that it works as a regular QWERTY keyboard on your iOS/Android. If not unlocked, the Recreated ZX Spectrum is stuck in command mode which is only useful for Speccy stuff - no good for typing etc. The app seems to be required to allow the mode to be changed on iOS/Android.

Price seems silly to me too. I can understand the games cost money to license but that can't cost a lot. Why not just sell this as 'different' bluetooth keyboard for ~£30? (I think £20 is probably too low cost considering the small market and high tooling costs)

I owned several of the rubber-keyed Spectrums and one thing I always wanted for it was a proper keyboard. So now, I can buy a keyboard - the bit I disliked - for only slightly less than the whole machine cost when it launched in 1982. I think I'll give it a miss.

Amazon reviews are pretty bad so far. They apparently released it before being fully ready. I don't have a real interest in the device, but I started watching the guide and stayed to watch because the presenter is cute.
