Measuring an eBook reader in battery life in years is no more useful than measuring a smartphone standby time in days (nobody leaves it on standby 100% of the time).
It will vary based on how much you use it, page turns is a better measure but that then depends on your text size for how many books you'll be able to read, and the length of the book of course...
I'm shocked it's taken this long for them to realise, of all companies, that the battle's at the bottom, not the top. I mean, seriously, there's a reason Tesco makes the Hudl for the price it does, and it's hardly been unsuccessful - once they cut to £100, anyway.
