OMG, considering how high RAM was generally priced at etailers Dec 14 (and been tumbling) this is a crazy low.

I can recall how in May 15 there was suggestion Q3 & Q4 may see a rise.

Re: DRAM prices fall, in what is usually peak season

Every few years we get a couple of years when we don't need more memory (and then something does come along to make us need more). Right now we seem to be stuck in the 8GB system RAM rut, and the people who need 16GB/32GB have already upgraded. And nobody is buying new computers if they can avoid it.

    Agree.

I stuck with my Q6600 (rig built 2007ish) til this early this year. If I hadn't gone back to gaming on the PC I really couldn't see any need to upgrade from that for the general windows/office use I do. Even my laptop is ancient, but as it fulfills it's purpose why upgrade?

Re: DRAM prices fall, in what is usually peak season

Been eyeing up an extra 16GB DDR3 for a little while now. I run a few virtual machines so my desktop would be most grateful.

Not me. I want more but I've been making do while watching the prices drop over the the last year or so.

This is what I've been tracking:
    http://uk.hardware.info/productinfo/247282/kingston-hyperx-savage-32gb-ddr3-1866-cl9-quad-kit

It's the lowest priced 1866MHz, CL9 from this list:
    http://uk.hardware.info/productgroup/20/memory-modules/products#filter:RZBtb4IwFIX_Sz-7xEJB4aMTYlU2hPkCy2IKdIKAJa28TON_X2uW7OM599yb-5w7EIxfgQ3q4tLwIqVHIlIwAqKhacoqKCfjf6lJCXWknJyIXKogguv5CeeO89Fta7E_Lvu4xWzIT7OgrBxM3MFr1-LNO7jxjhwni31hdPV8CD0rLJF1gLc-2rMLNaC-6Tsr2ObB6vZDTLN9-T447-eS8SK5LDx_4Bp2N7E298uQaMhbnXcmdnCGk_5WQx9n8SwpI79KomR5jp3w2rhbY3htK4auxpKyLu0UByU8zXvGMyGfl0ZDTlRB_T EC-y4BdQvYn0Az9An4GgF9YiEVgeAxAlnLRFVklKvk1EKqIGRPwTOm6tE120RSPmuSW-Z4bGvyJHg8fgE

I'm not so sure about DRAMeXchange. The prediction at the beginning of the year was that there would be a seasonal drop and then prices would start rising. That's not what the consumer price graphs have shown at all. It looks as if prices may have touched bottom in August. If those prices continue to creep up this month then the time to catch an optimal bargain could be running out. If the rise turns back to a drop then maybe I'll put some faith in the analysts.

Re: DRAM prices fall, in what is usually peak season

It's not a surprise by any stretch. RAM is probably least important factor for enthusiasts and gamers. As stocks or DIMM sticks accumulate manufacturers must offload them any way possible. Even if only slightly over profit margin or in extreme cases at cost. Today 16GB is enough for overwhelming majority, 32GB is good for more challenging task or RAM Drive if required. 64 or 128GBs is domain of graphic studios or servers but certainly not gamers or mobile market.
