Sounds good enough and I remain interested....
But getting very bored of hearing how every game is about "epic space battles" and having the exact same features listed as all the other space games.
I mean, "Wow, so in this one you can be a pirate, trader or bounty-hunter? Cor, what a unique concept".
Here's an idea - How about an FPS game, where you get to fire guns? You could carry a rifle *and* a pistol *and* some grenades - How cool and unique would that be!!!
Remake freespace 1 and 2 in HD then freelancer. Nuff said.

I still vividly remember the Freespace 2 storyline, that's how strong an impact it had on me, 16 years ago! It feels like a your an insigificant piece is an epic space war fought with multiple sides in an ultimately futile fight. It was glorious and nothing has come close since!
Ahh why not, once last time to watch the epic intro

"so ambitious he couldn’t get it finished" kinda implies he started and then couldn't finish it. Actually, development of Infinity the MMORPG never started.
Flavien's effort has always been squarely focused on creating the I-Novae engine, the fruits of which you can clearly see in the numerous gameplay videos linked from the Kickstarter.
So like star citizen then
Not to bore but a good example is mining - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/c...Careers-Mining
but there are plenty of other roles planned like salvage, exploration (hunting for jump points, derelicts and mineable asteroids) and passenger/goods transport. Still a wait for it to be complete but worth keeping an eye on?
None less this game looks interesting. Will keep an eye on it but not going to back it just yet.

Yup, and all the others.
You'd think that at least the high-budget ones could come up with a better way to plug the same old features.
Newtonian physics (sort-of), open world, dynamic economy, 'Go anywhere, do anything, be anyone... '
Might as well tell me it's "designed by gamers, for gamers"!
The old (2006!) Infinity Combat Prototype was a ton of fun, so I expect his will be too.
Wrong to compare Elite: Dangerous, As it is instanced and nothing like the others being seamless.
I hope the campaign is successful, just so we have an alternative in case Star Citizen crashes and burns after spending all the money on cutscenes.
I'm faintly surprised there aren't more Freelancer type games kicking around, given the massive leap in graphical fidelity since X-Wing / Wing Commander. I would definitely like to see single player campaigns for these types of games though.
